Cotton Club

January 2012 COTTON CLUB

Pattern: Barn Raising Rail By Klia Cawston
Fabric:Batiks
Finished Block Size: 10½ inch
Quilt Size without borders: 42 x 63½ inches
Quilt Size with borders: 62 x 84 inches
9 dark, 3 light fat quarters

From time to time we pick a batik line of fabric that catches our eye. The turquoise, blue and green batiks are quite effective together. This pattern is one of our favorites that we have used in the store before that uses 3 light and 9 darks, imagine the possibilities for other projects using this pattern. We came up with a pattern and arraneged the blocks to create a barn raising pattern in the quilt that is most effective. We added two borders to frame the blocks that complimented the body of the quilt.

December 2011 FLANNEL CLUB

FABRIC: Bittersweet by Benartex, Nancy Halvorson
Pattern: Pinwheel by Klia Cawston
Number of Blocks: 30 ~ 8 inch unfinished blocks
Number of Fat Quarters: 12
Size of Lap Quilt: Without Borders: 40 x 48
Size of Lap Quilt with borders 72 x 82

It was a joy working with this line of flannel fabrics, the jewel tones are so rich and Benartex makes the most beautiful soft flannel. I'm sure you will agree. We combined two different blocks that created an interesting pattern. We used every bit of fabric that made this quilt a nice size.
